Step 1: New programs automatically start with the named sections from the last program you saved as a template or assigned to a client. If you commonly use and label your sections similarly this fast tracks you to being able to immediately add in exercises.
Step 2: Saving template programs and organizing them into folders allows you to assign a copy of the complete program to a client. You can then make any edits to the program and the client will automatically see the most up to date version.
Step 3: You can also use the 'replace section' button to add or replace any section from a template program into a program you are building. This makes it easy to do things like combine the core section from one template with the upper body section from another or the warm-up or cool down from a third. Thinking of your templates as a flexible building block system can enhance the power and speed of writing and selling programs.
Step 4: The replace exercise feature gives you a lot of power to use templates of common workout structures such as circuits, add them into a program then replace the exercises with ones individualized to that client.
Step 5: Exercises added into a section that already contains an exercise with acute variables like sets, reps, and tempo, etc will automatically inherit those variables. This means you can save templates with sections that have a placeholder exercise with the combination of variables you might want to use again such as an ascending pyramid. You can then use the 'replace section' button to add in that section, then either replace the exercise or add in new exercises that will inherit those acute variables. This can be a fast way to set up complex acute variable structures.
Step 6: Another good use of templates is to create and save template programs that do not contain exercises but just contain the number of named sections you want and a workout schedule that combines them into workouts for the number of weeks you want. You can then create a copy and edit this program and simply add in your exercises and acute variables and assign it to clients. There are examples of this type of program in the 'Program Starter Templates' folder of the ptEnhance templates that you can use or use as an example to create your own.
